Shrikhand: Flavored Yogurt Dessert

Add a delicious finish to any meal with this light, refreshing, delightful and aromatic summer dessert from India that is intriguingly simple to whip up.

Ingredients

2 cups Greek yogurt/hung yogurt
2 tbsp agave nectar/honey/icing sugar
Few strands saffron
I tbsp warm milk to soak saffron strands
½ tsp Green cardamom powder
Pistachios for garnishing

Directions

Whisk together agave nectar, cardamom powder and yogurt.
Add saffron.
Decorate with pistachio and cardamom powder and refrigerate for at least
4 hours.
Serve chilled
Serves 4

Variations

You can add ripe mango or fresh strawberry puree, vanilla, or add a twist with 2 tsp cocoa/melted chocolate and chocolate shavings and almonds to your yogurt to have different flavored shrikhand. However, the basic recipe remains the same.

Note: Hung yogurt is made by straining the yogurt through a cheese cloth.
